Casey wins park restoration job

Sefton Council has appointed Rochdale-based contractor Casey Group to restore Kings Gardens next to Southport's Marine Park and Promenade.

The £3.8m contract award follows a successful bid for Heritage Lottery Funding. The contract will start on 4 February and will run for one year. The 37-acre grade 2-listed park will be extensively repaired and restored. There will be new amenity spaces, public realm, landscaping and the marine lake edge will be repaired.

The Venetian-style footbridge over the marine lake, nine listed cast iron shelters and several other historic buildings including the former ticket office, toilets and an Arts and Crafts shelter will all be restored.

Capita Symonds is advising Sefton Council.
