Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams rebrands
Manchester architect Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams has changed its name to Buttress, and has released a new brand to coincide with its move to Bengal Street in Manchester.
The practice, known for its regeneration and heritage work such as the restoration of St Ann's Church and MOSI's Great Western Warehouse, merged with ex-MBLA staff in late 2012 bringing the Lock, Potato Wharf and Hulme regeneration masterplan into the business.
Gavin Sorby, managing director of Buttress, said: "We knew our brand needed to be looked at for a long time, the long name and fussy graphic just didn't represent us as the approachable, straightforward and design led practice that we are, and when we got together with MBLA, the need to change became even more pressing.
"We have a strong reputation in a number of sectors that we didn't want to lose, and so we are now simply Buttress. It's obvious perhaps, but the result of a very reflective and intensive process which was really valuable; and we know the end result is the right one."
The practice has also released images of the Chorlton Villas 28-home residential scheme in South Manchester it has designed for First Step Group. The houses are laid out around a landscaped green and look out to views over the adjacent golf course and Chorlton Eese nature reserve.
