Hird leaves BDP after 20 years
Manchester-based Matthew Hird has joined rival practice Todd Architects as the firm’s head of healthcare, leading its strategy in the sector across the UK and Ireland.
With more than 25 years’ experience in healthcare design and delivery, Hird has worked on some major projects in the region, including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Clatterbridge Cancer Hospital in Liverpool and The Paterson Laboratory Building at The Christie in Manchester
Masterplanning for healthcare clients is also in his skillset, Todd said.
Hird engages in various bodies, including Architects for Health where he is a co-opted board member.
He said: “TODD have a wealth of inspirational healthcare designs. My goal is to build on that and continue to deliver exceptional healthcare projects for our clients.”
The firm’s Manchester studio is based at Fourways House on Hilton Street, and is headed by Seamus Lennon. Todd’s other offices are in London, Belfast and Dublin.
Andrew Murray, director at TODD Architects, said: “Matthew joining our healthcare team is another positive step for the practice, strengthening our offer to clients across all aspects of design in the sector.
“His wealth of experience will no doubt build on the reputation we have established in recent years within the sector.”
