Robertson replaces ISG on pair of GM fire station jobs
The contractor will take over the delivery of new facilities in Whitefield and Blackley.
Robertson has been appointed to complete the projects following the high-profile collapse of ISG last year.
ISG was awarded the contract for the Whitefield and Blackley projects, as well as three others in January 2023.
ISG collapsed last year with debts estimated at more than £1bn.
With Robertson now on board, the Blackley station, located on Rochdale Road is due to complete this November. Whitefield fire station, off Bury New Road, will complete the following October.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue’s fire station refresh forms part of a 16-year estates strategy.
As well as providing modern facilities, the project aims to reduce the buildings’ carbon footprints in line with the city region’s 2038 carbon-neutral target.
Both the Whitefield and Blackley fire stations were designed by architect Bradshaw Gass & Hope. Paul Butler Associates, Pennine Ecological, Crofton Engineering, Harley Haddow, IGE Consulting, and LK Group, are also advising.
