Bluetree captures Amaze for Castlefield chapel

Media firm Amaze, part of the publicly listed Hasgrove Group, has ended its long search for offices in Manchester city centre by taking Bluetree Estates's Chapel Studios in Castlefield.

Amaze will occupy the whole of the 12,000 sq ft landmark. The Grade II-listed former Knott Mill Chapel was designed by Edward Waitress who was also responsible for the design of the city's historic Free Trade Hall. The building was used in the 1980s by pop music producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman.

Bluetree acquired the property from Pete Waterman in 2006. The developer will now refurbish the building to Amaze's specification. Amaze is relocating from St John's Court on Quay Street.

Rod Hyde, chief executive of the Hasgrove Group commented, "Combining our digital marketing, technology, advertising and PR specialisms under one roof will offer a single destination where our clients can find the creativity and communications expertise they require. There is a major need in the business to develop synergies and these will come more easily whilst working under one roof and collaborating fully.

"The brief to the developer is to provide a suitable location to facilitate our philosophy; to provide an inspiring base where connected specialists can thrive."

Hasgrove/Amaze recently took the 10,000 sq ft top floor of UK Land & Property and Pochin's Walker House at Exchange Flags in Liverpool city centre.

Edwards & Co advised Amaze. WHR Property LLP and TFC acted on behalf of Bluetree Estates.

Amaze did not take the top of Walker House. They pulled out of the deal.
