Bluemantle wins consent for housing scheme

The Alderley Edge-based property investment and development company has been given outline planning approval for the redevelopment of a 30-acre site in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

Bluemantle is planning to transform the former Fison's factory site owned by Sanofi Aventis and Rhodia on London Road and Station Road, which has remained vacant since 2005.

The mixed use scheme includes up to 231 residential units including open market, a percentage of affordable and low-cost market housing.

Proposals also include office and industrial units, a convenience store, a children's day care facility, care home, medical facility, hotel and family restaurant.

Simon Isherwood, director of Bluemantle, said: "We have worked closely with Cheshire East Council, Holmes Chapel Parish Council and local residents throughout the process to create an attractive regeneration project. The plans will enhance and compliment the strong community of Holmes Chapel and will deliver significant investment over the coming years. And now they have been approved we are looking forward to getting started! Bluemantle's vision for the redevelopment of the former Fison's site is to deliver a sustainable, high-quality development on what is currently a vacant, unused brownfield site. Approval of these plans ensures Bluemantle can realise its full potential, bringing new investment as well as generating employment opportunities and much needed new housing for Holmes Chapel and the surrounding areas."

Bluemantle's planning consultants for the project were Manchester-based How Planning. Calder Peel Architects were appointed architects and masterplanners for the scheme.
