Bloor nets approval for 185 homes in Widnes
Halton councillors voted unanimously to sign off the housebuilder’s plans for a mixture of market and affordable homes on 18 acres off South Lane in the town.
The decision was made at yesterday evening’s development management committee meeting. It was in line with officer recommendation.
Stantec advised Bloor Homes on the scheme. When complete, there will be 37 affordable homes and 148 market ones. They will range from one-bedroom to four-bedroom residences.
In addition to the houses themselves, the project includes 3.7 acres of natural and semi-natural open space and a play area. Access to the development would be from three points off South Lane in Widnes.
Stantec associate planner Bal Tiwana represented Bloor at the committee meeting. He said that the firm was “delighted” by the unanimous support from councillors.
“The decision reflects the high quality of the application and the wide range of important community benefits the scheme will bring to the local area,” he said.
“These include new open space featuring a trim trail, as well as connections to the North Widnes active travel corridor.”
In addition to Stantec, the project team includes Briary Energy, TEP, I-Transport, Lees Roburgh, Brownfield Solutions, Miller Goodall, JPM Acoustics, and Tree Solutions.
