Blackpool FC scores first phase permission for training ground

Wyre Council has granted consent for the aspects of the plans that fall under its jurisdiction, but the football club still needs approval from the neighbouring borough authority.

The Tangerines are waiting on approval from Blackpool concerning access to the 87-acre greenfield plot off Garstang Road between the town and Poulton-le-Fylde.

Place North West has contacted Blackpool Council to establish when a decision might be made on the proposal to create the new access off Streeton Road for the development.

Wyre’s planning committee followed officer recommendations to greenlight facilities which include a two-storey building, indoor pitch, a premises for ground staff, and 10 outdoor pitches.

Other infrastructure covered by the project, on a Green Belt site, includes floodlighting, footpaths and 120 parking spaces.

Wyre’s approval is subject to a S106 legal agreement to secure financial contributions towards improvements to public rights of way.

The project team comprises AFL Architects and PWA includes Miller Goodall, Groundsure, AEC, and MJMC.

Also involved are Miro Drainage, Milieu, Lexington, Hannan Associates, ERAP, Walker Sime, O’Neil and Partners, and Nationwide CDM.

The plans can be viewed by searching for reference number 23/00500/LMAJ on Wyre Council’s planning portal.
