Blackburn gives thumbs up to 100,000 sq ft industrial

Prime Property Cosultancy has been granted consent to build two warehouses on the former Darwen Paper Mill site.

The units measure 55,229 sq ft and 51,000 sq ft respectively and will be constructed on an 8.6-acre site off Lower Eccleshill Road in Blackburn.

The larger of the two units is already under offer, according to Prime, the asset manager for owner Acornfield.

Both units will benefit from a 500Kva power supply and low-density site coverage that will allow for substantial yard areas and staff car parking.

The 100,000 sq ft project is expected to complete in spring 2023.

Occupier demand for new-build manufacturing and warehousing space within Blackburn and the M65 corridor “continues unabated”, according to PPC. Monte Blackburn’s Frontier Park has seen more than 800,000 sq ft let in the last three years, the asset manager added.

“Our company goes from strength to strength despite the challenging times,” PPC director Imran Younus said.

“This is an excellent location and we are encouraged by the level of enquiries we have received at this stage as the appetite for warehouse space in the North West continues to grow.”

B8RE and BC Real Estate have been appointed as joint marketing agents.

Building Design Northern is the architect for the scheme.
