Blackburn decides on 80 homes
McDermott Homes’ plan to develop a six-acre brownfield site off Redlam Brow has been given the nod by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
At least 25 homes will be affordable. The remaining 10 two- and 45 three-bedroom houses will be offered at market sale.
The site had hosted The Griffin Public House and five terraced houses; the remaining buildings were razed early this year.
McDermott Homes has worked with architect Woodcroft Design and S&L Planning Consultants to bring forward the scheme.
Each house will have its own parking space, and on-street parking, taking the space allocation to 160 slots.
Only a selection of properties will have private gardens, though 1.4 acres of public open space is planned.

The application is the second phase of the wider Griffin regeneration area. The £8m first phase was approved and developed as 56 homes under a February 2020 application.
Trevor Bridge Associates, E3P, Arthian, and Sound Barrier Solutions supported McDermott through the application process.
