Birkenhead affordable homes complete

One Vision Housing, part of Sovini Group, has completed its latest rent-to-buy scheme, comprising 47 homes in Birkenhead.

The development, known as Church View, is located on a plot in the centre of Birkenhead, around 12 minutes from Liverpool City Centre by train or car.

One Vision acquired the project in 2017 from contractor Goodman Wells that had gone into administration, and continued to develop the homes through Sovini’s in-house construction arm, Carroll Build.

The scheme comprises 47 two-bedroom apartments each with two bathrooms. It aims to provide much-needed affordable housing as part of wider regeneration plans for the Church View area.

One Vision is a registered social housing provider with around 13,600 homes in its portfolio across Sefton, Liverpool, Wirral, Cheshire and West Lancashire. It was formed in 2006 after a stock transfer from Sefton Council.

The organisation launched its Rent to Buy programme in 2018. The scheme is intended to give future homeowners the opportunity to save for a deposit on a home through the Government-backed Rent to Buy scheme.

The first handover to tenants at Church View is scheduled in March, according to One Vision.

The development is one of several One Vision schemes planned in the Wirral, according to Ian Mitchell, managing director of One Vision Housing.

“The exciting [Church View] development is part of our ongoing commitment to build thriving, inclusive communities and will go a long way towards helping members of the local community get on the property ladder,” he said.
