Bentley deals drive Crewe industrial market
The impact from the resurgence of car maker Bentley Motors in Crewe continues with logistics supplier Rudolph & Hellman Automotive taking 60,000 sq ft on Weston Road in the town.
Rudolph & Hellman has moved into the former Rowlinsons timber yard, paying just under £4/sq ft to Rowlinsons, which still owns the nine-acre, multi-let site.
The space, taken on a five-year lease with a break clause after three years, will be used to service an extended contract with Bentley.
Matthew Pochin, director at Lamonts, advising Rowlinsons, said the 120,000 sq ft of refurbished industrial space at the yard was now nearly fully let.
Bentley employs 4,000 people in Crewe and makes 10,000 car a year, with sales increasing as models are upgraded.
The firm recently submitted planning applications for new facilities of 50,000 sq ft and 100,000 sq ft on its compound.
Prior to Christmas, Bentley Motors took 150,000 sq ft at Highcross's and Graftongate Developments' Orion Park in Crewe for its world parts distribution centre.
Pochin added that Bentley was still active in the market with two live requirements of around 4,000 sq ft each for a file storage depot and a modelling unit.
Rudolph & Hellman was unrepresented.
