Barrow industrial attracts investors

CBRE’s industrial agency team has completed the sale of two industrial parks in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria amounting to more than 133,000 sq ft.

On behalf of Partylite, CBRE sold Sandscale Park, a 30-acre industrial site, to JJC for an undisclosed sum. Located off the A590 Park Road, three miles from Barrow Docks, the site comprises a 100,000 sq ft warehouse unit with offices.

Meeting Industrial Park was sold on behalf of Gyrodata to HBP. Meeting comprises a warehouse of 33,800 sq ft and includes a secure yard on a total site of 7.5 acres.

Barrow-in-Furness has seen significant industry expansion in recent years, with long-term investment in the energy and shipbuilding sectors. Local occupiers include BAE Systems, Pirelli, GlaxoSmithKline, Kimberly Clark, Sellafield, United Biscuits, Siemens, McBride and L-3 Communications.

Paul Cook, senior director of industrial agency at CBRE Manchester, said: “These deals in Barrow are reflective of the area’s continued success as a logistics and business location. The connectivity via road and rail makes it an attractive destination for occupiers and the success of both industrial parks is testament to the continued interest and confidence in the area.”
