Artez starts on Market Place Vaults extension
Contractor Artez has started work on a 20,000 sq ft expansion to Bolton’s Market Place Vaults, including new restaurant units to join existing occupiers Prezzo, Nando’s, and Baltic Cellar.
Artez is carrying out the work for client Moorgarth, which bought Market Place in 2013 alongside South African retail investor Inception Holdings. Designed by Wren Architects, the Vaults has already seen extensive refurbishment, with Prezzo moving into a 2,500 sq ft unit in March 2016.
The initial phase of work on the site was also carried out by Artez.
Alongside the 20,000 sq ft extension as part of the building’s latest phase of restoration, Artez will also refurbish and update the building’s Victorian toilets.
The project is expected to complete in September 2018.
Artez director Steve Knight said Bolton was “becoming a hotspot for national retailers”, although the company declined to reveal which restaurant tenants would be taking the space.
Alongside the Market Place project, Artez has also been chosen to deliver a refurbish a number of units in Peel Land & Property’s Lowry Outlet Mall in Salford Quays, including the installation of a structural glass shop front to the mall’s Costa Coffee unit.
Knight added: “Having completed the new Alchemist bar and restaurant at Media City UK last year, we’ve formed great relationships with property owners in and around Salford Quays who have recognised the Artez hallmark in the area. We look forward to expanding our refurbishment work across Manchester and continuing the positive reputation we’ve developed here.”
