Approval secured for 164 Winnington homes

FI Real Estate Management has secured permission for 164 homes on an eight-acre brownfield site in Winnington, near Northwich.

The development, which is a site at the rear of Weir Engineering Services on Winnington Avenue, includes 24 affordable homes, amounting to 15% of the total development.

Objections were raised before the committee meeting surrounding the scheme’s density and lack of open space amongst others, but officers had given it a ‘minded to approve’ recommendation which was carried by the planning committee.

The approval is subject to a Section 106 agreement, featuring financial contribution of £416,000 towards providing places at local primary and secondary schools; £146,000 towards enhanced GP facilities in the local area; £244,000 towards the enhancement of public open space provision in the area; £112,000 towards the enhancement of playing pitches in the area; and £30,300 towards highway infrastructure improvements.

An FI Real Estate Management spokesperson said: “We are delighted to have secured outline planning permission, which will breathe new life into this brownfield site, and will fulfil both market demand and the need for more housing in the local area.”

The professional team includes DPP Planning, Saunders Architects, RSK Engineers, along with legal representation from Hill Dickinson.
