Anwyl wants to build 79 homes in St Helens
Anwyl Partnerships has submitted plans to build on a site recently acquired from the NHS off Cowley Hill Lane.
The application, crafted by planners Hive Land and Planning, proposes 54 retirement apartments and 25 houses on the derelict site, which the firm picked up in June for an undisclosed sum.
Previously, various planning applications have encountered problems with delivery, something Anwyl believes it can overcome.
Sam Oliver, senior land manager at Anwyl Partnerships, said: “Our proposals respond to the key post-pandemic drivers, which is to provide a broad mixture of tenures, all underpinned by strong design to truly create balanced communities.
“We had positive engagement throughout our public consultation earlier in the year. We have also benefited from constructive input from council stakeholders whilst developing our brief.”
John McCall Architects designed the scheme, which also includes a landscape strategy of trees, hedges and meadow grassland.
“The site has great physical attributes and we have sought to optimise these by retaining all existing trees, whilst also identifying further strategic locations for additional tree planting and landscaping,” Oliver said.
“We look forward to working with the council to bring about a positive decision in the coming weeks.”
Ewloe-headquartered Anwyl remains busy across the region. In August Anwyl Partnerships started work on a 53-apartment, £8.5m extra care scheme in Wallasey, while along with Bellway, it put forward plans in May for housing at the former RAF Sealand site.
