Anwyl underway at Victoria Mills
The housebuilder has broken ground on a 138-home development on the site of a former wallpaper factory off Macclesfield Road in Holmes Chapel.
Anwyl Homes has started the demolition of the old factory and mill buildings, the first phase of the redevelopment of the 10-acre site, having won planning approval for the project in November 2019.
Known as Victoria Mills, the scheme will comprise 20 two-bedroom houses, 46 three-bedroom houses, and 63 four-bedroom houses.
Anwyl bought the site following the relocation of previous occupants Fine Décor, which moved to Eaton Bank Industrial Estate in Congleton last year.
Phil Dolan, managing director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Our acquisition of Victoria Mills has enabled Fine Décor’s move to a modernised facility and helped to ensure that these vital manufacturing jobs have remained in Cheshire East.
“It has also ensured that the old factory and mill buildings can make way for much-needed new homes in Holmes Chapel.”
The development is expected to take three to four year to complete, according to Anwyl.
APD Architects designed the scheme and Avison Young advised on planning.
