Anwyl lands £25m Rock Ferry contract

The North Wales-based housebuilder is to work with developer Torus to deliver around 200 homes on the site of the former Rock Ferry High School in Wirral.

The scheme comprises 84 homes for shared ownership and rent, alongside 102 apartments aimed at the elderly.

As part of the project, the grade two-listed Ravenswood House, which sits in the centre of the 20-acre site, will be converted into eight extra care apartments.

Planning permission was granted in February and work is expected to start on site in the coming months, with completion targeted for spring 2022.

The architect for the scheme is Pozzoni, and Mosaic Town Planning is the planner.

Christopher Bowen, managing director of Torus Developments, said: “This project will be transformative for Rock Ferry and Wirral, and showcases our commitment to ambitious developments that offer high quality, affordable housing options exactly where they’re needed.”

Tom Anwyl, managing director of Anwyl Partnerships, said: “Being appointed to deliver this scheme…demonstrates our scale, capabilities and resources. We look forward to working with Torus on what will be our second construction partnership.”

Anwyl and Torus previously teamed up to deliver a 97-apartment scheme in Padgate in Warrington, which is nearing completion. The contract for that scheme was awarded through the JV North framework.
