Anwyl acquires land for Winnington housing

Anwyl Homes has bought two parcels of land at Winnington Business Park, Northwich, totalling 18 acres, with a view to building 250 houses as part of a wider mixed-use scheme.

The former Avenue Engineering Park site, which is occupied by disused industrial units, already has outline planning consent for a project made up of retail units, commercial space and a family restaurant, which was submitted by the vendor FI Real Estate Management.

The 250 homes which Anwyl proposes are a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom properties, including detached, semi-detached and mews styles, as well as some apartments. There will be 15% provision for affordable homes.

John Grime, Anwyl Homes regional managing director, said: “Our homes will add to Anwyl’s continued growth and we’ll be making financial contributions to education, healthcare, highways, parks, play spaces and sports pitches. These will be worth around £1.2 million in total, depending on the final number of homes, including almost half a million pounds towards local education provision.”

A reserved matters application is being drawn up and Anwyl hopes to begin construction this summer, with the first phase of houses to be occupied by spring 2021.  The whole development is expected to take three to four years.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
