Another archway venue proposed in Salford

The Arch Company wants to change the use of the vacant Arch 1 off Gore Street, seconds away from Salford Central station, and open it up for punters.

Plans submitted by Rapleys aim to integrate a flexible use space at the site, primarily for food and drink vendors.

A total floorspace of 9,700 sq ft is split across two areas.

The arch would double as an entrance way and spans 3,700 sq ft, while the Colonnade area would host the main F&B offer and covers the remaining 6,000 sq ft.

Freshly added glazed double entrance doors would welcome guests and provide an opportunity to re-activate and revitalise the frontage onto Gore Street.

Plans for the Colonnade venue show that the applicant would restore several large columns at the rear of the arch, which support the train line above.

Guests would drink and dine between these columns, with temporary vendors selling from marked plots at the sides of the archway.

Salford City Council will now decide whether to allow the Stephen George and Partners-designed venue to be built.

Others on the project team include Aecom, Phlorum, Pick Everard, Smith Jenkins, Air & Acoustics Consultants, and Markides.

Those interested in the application can use the planning reference number PA/2025/1147 on Salford City Council’s planning portal.
