AEW promotes Turner to director

Mark Turner has played a crucial role in developing the architecture firm’s building information modelling expertise.

Turner has been at AEW Architects for nine years, having joined in 2015 as BIM manager. Through his advanced skills in 3D design and information management, Turner has aided AEW in helping make projects more efficient for the company’s clients. Along the way he has also upskilled clients, partners, and the AEW team on the Building Safety Act.

With his promotion, Turner now has a seat on the company’s board of directors. Other board members include Phil Hepworth, Alan Lamb, Danielle Purves, Colin Savage, Alex Southall, and managing director Andy Rainford.

Rainford said Turner’s promotion to directors recognised his “significant contribution” to the company.

“Not only is [Turner] an absolute expert in his field and leading our BIM agenda, but he has also been instrumental in transforming our practice management processes and IT systems and will add great strength and resilience to the board,”

Turner is not the only AEW employee to receive a new title – Karey Wardhaugh has been promoted to head of people, Meg Wood to associate, and Sam Gallimore to senior technologist.

AEW boasts a team of more than 100 staff members. The Manchester-based practice works across the built environment, designing buildings in the cultural, industrial, residential, retail, and office sectors.

In addition to BIM consultancy, the firm offers services in architecture, interior design, heritage, masterplanning, planning, retrofit, and sustainability.

Current AEW projects in the North West include Hyndburn Council’s £70m Accrington Town Square transformation, Stockport Council and Network Space’s Cheadle Eco Business Park, and Muse’s retail- and leisure-led Basford East scheme in Crewe.
