Wilson Bowden gets planning approval for Kingsway unit
Planning has been granted to Wilson Bowden and its development partners for a 616,250 sq ft distribution unit at Kingsway Business Park in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
The building will be the largest warehouse to be developed in the North West since Rosemound Developments' Pioneer Point at Ellesmere Port was completed in 2005.
The building also includes a 250,000 sq ft mezzanine in addition to providing 22,500 sq ft of offices, within plot T on the 420 acre business park.
Robert Grafton, Wilson Bowden's development director, said: "Kingsway is a long term development and having spent considerable time and money developing a superb infrastructure we are ideally placed to handle a building of this magnitude. While this is the largest shed we will have on Kingsway the scale of the scheme will enable us to accommodate a range of different sized warehouses and offices."
JD Sports, which is vacating Segro's Heywood Distribution Park, has been linked to a move to the Kingsway unit.
During the submitting plans in October last year, Grafton said: "Even in this difficult market, Kingsway is attracting a high level of interest and enquiries."
Kingsway is a partnership with Rochdale council and the North West Development Agency.
P3 Property Consultants and JLL are the appointed property agents at Kingsway.
