Walker Sime appoints building surveying director

Mark Rendell has joined the North West consultancy, bringing with him more than 20 years of experience honed while working on commercial, historic, health, and educational buildings in the UK and the United Arab Emirates.

Rendell has taken on the role of project director in Walker Sime’s burgeoning building surveying team. He will be based out of the company’s Trafford and Liverpool offices.

His previous work experience includes time at Kershaw Surveyors, Eric Wright Facilities Management, Sinyar Property Management, and Lancashire County Council.

“When I first spoke to Walker Sime, I was struck by how the business consistently punches above its weight, delivering for blue-chip clients,” Rendell said.

“The enthusiasm, experience, and ambition across the business made the decision to join an easy one,” he continued.

Rendell elaborated about Walker Sime’s building surveying division and what it offers.

“We see building surveying as a key part of Walker Sime’s offer, working closely with our project management, cost management, and infrastructure teams to provide a joined-up service for clients across real estate and infrastructure,” he said.

“It’s a natural fit alongside those disciplines and means we can support clients at every stage, regardless of project size. Our ambition is simple: to be the first call our clients make when they’re facing a building challenge or planning their next project.”

Rendell will focus on growing business in the North West and South of England to start, with a national push to follow in due course.

He is the latest hire for the 70-strong Walker Sime, which also recently recruited director of cost management Russell Wright Turner and director of project management Simon Cliff.

Recent projects for Walker Sime include Peel Waters’ £71m Central Docks in Liverpool, Legal & General Investment Management’s Ralli Quays in Salford, UK Biobank in Manchester, the transformation of Central Retail Park in Rochdale, and the fit-out of BNY’s 4 Angel Square office.
