Padel plans in for Grand Junction Retail Park
A former bowling club next to the Crewe shopping destination could be transformed with a 25,000 sq ft development, including five padel courts with canopy structures and a clubhouse.
Plans have now been lodged with Cheshire East Council by Savills, on behalf of UBS Triton Property Fund vehicles, for the redevelopment of the brownfield site.
The land has been closed off to the public since the Abb Bowling Club’s clubhouse was pulled down in 2012.

Along with Savills, advisers on the project include Hoare Lea and Arbtech.
The proposed site is at the southernmost tip of Grand Junction Retail Park, which lies to the south-east of Crewe town centre, close to the railway station. M&S, Sports Direct, Home Bargains and Halfords are at the park, along with the Food Warehouse, behind which the site lies.
Weather-protective canopies are proposed over the padel courts, while a clubhouse would be provided in a shipping container, with toilets in a smaller container structure. Customers would use the retail park’s parking, accessing the venue by the side of Food Warehouse.
The plans can be viewed on CEC’s planning portal with the reference 26/1148/FUL.

You forgot to mention what is proposed; courts for what?

It was in the headline, but was worth us including in the story as well. I have amended the article accordingly. The answer is padel courts.
