Wain Estates appoints two directors

Ryan James and Neil Lewis have been named land director and planning director, respectively, at the Warrington-based strategic land company.

James has joined Wain Estates from Equans, where he was new-build director. He has also held roles at ENGIE, Knowsley Council, and Liverpool City Council.

Lewis also has public sector experience, having been a senior planning officer at Cheshire West and Chester Council a decade ago. More recently, Lewis was senior planning manager at Vistry Partnerships and had also worked at Countryside and Gladman.

Lewis said there were some “exciting” projects lined up for him in his new role of planning director at Wain Estates. But his attraction to the company was about more than just the workload.

“I am really impressed with the culture of the business, its commitment to staff and contribution to the communities where it works,” Lewis said about Wain Estates.

“That team approach runs through everything we do and is hugely rewarding for everyone.”

James described his new role as land director as “a hugely exciting opportunity”.

“Wain Estates has a unique ethos and USP, offering a full service to land owners and the ability to make swift decisions with a lack of red tape,” he continued.

“The portfolio of land has grown significantly in the last few years and as these opportunities are brought forward, that pipeline needs to be replenished.”

Angela Heaney, managing director at Wain Estates, praised both of her new hires.

“Over the last 12 months we have been recruiting dynamic people with the right skills and ethos to help Wain Estates achieve its national growth,” she said.

“Ryan and Neil both have the experience and vision to help us do this in the most positive and productive way and I am extremely pleased we now have an impressive team in place,” she added later.

Wain Estates is working alongside Trafford Council on the development of Carrington Estate, with goals to build 2,900 homes and 3.5m sq ft of employment space on the brownfield site.
