Vincents gears up with senior hire
Ross Wellman has been appointed by Lancashire law firm Vincents Solicitors as head of its commercial department.
Wellman, who this year celebrates his 30th year as a lawyer, has most recently worked as a consulting solicitor with Manchester firm Setfords, and previously had spells with firms including Penningtons, DWF and Halliwells.
He will now head the 10-strong commercial department at the Winckley Square-headquartered Vincents, looking after clients’ commercial property acquisitions, disputes and disposals, corporate, contractual and employment issues.
Vincents said that he has already introduced a number of new property and construction clients to the firm, including a student accommodation provider and commercial property portfolio holder, and aims to increase the firm’s work with residential housebuilders, contractors, investors, and landlords.
Wellman said: “I’ve always developed a personal relationship with my clients, making myself available and providing a friendly, bespoke service to them. I believe that’s why so many have returned year after year, and I will continue that ethos here at Vincents. I’m pleased to have found an extremely welcoming and professional team in the commercial department, and I’m confident my approach will align with how they already conduct business.
“The commercial team is expected to expand over the coming months, and Wellman will be tasked with the recruitment, training and mentorship of all junior members of the team.
Phillip Gilmore, managing partner of Vincents, said: “We are delighted to have a solicitor of Ross’ calibre and experience join the senior management team at Vincents. He’s held partner-level positions with some of the UK’s biggest law firms and his arrival is excellent news for both our commercial clients and the staff in that department.”
