Two more education providers to mop up Manchester office space
QA Higher Education is in talks over a 10-year lease to expand its presence in Bruntwood SciTech’s St James Building by 10,000 sq ft, while UK Management College is looking to take over a 24,000 sq ft vacant office building at Salford Quays.
QAHE will occupy space on the fourth floor of the Oxford Street building previously occupied by the General Medical Council.
Meanwhile, UK Management College, which partners with various universities to provide courses, has agreed terms on 17 Carolina Way, a standalone office building in Salford previously occupied by Lovell.
The deals are the latest in a long line of education providers taking conventional office space in Manchester and converting it into learning space.
Other notable deals of late include Arden University taking 55,000 sq ft at 2 Hardman Street over two deals, Global Banking School expanding its presence at Universal Square to 103,000 sq ft, and Elizabeth School of London signing for the entirety of Custodian REIT’s 30,000 sq ft Arthur House.

That’s a great use of office space. Every time I think Manchester has too much office space more seems to be needed.

St James is a gorgeous building too, undoubtedly one of Manchester’s finest.

I worked in St James’s Buildings back in the 80s. You could see traffic on the old Mancunian Way flyover from the 9th floor, and the Welsh hills on a clear day. Glad it’s still retained its allure.

Meanwhile the British Council has given its 250 staff compulsory home working contracts and is giving up its remaining office space in Manchester after moving to the city from London in 1992.
