Turkey latest to open Manchester consulate

The Turkish Consulate will be located at the 4,000 sq ft 6 Oxford Court, subject to planning approval for the change of use of the building.

Turkey is set to become the latest country to open a consulate in Manchester in the wake of Brexit.

Last year, the Spanish and Italian consulates took a combined 17,500 sq ft at The Chancery, Topland Group’s 50,000 sq ft Manchester block.

Osborne House owns the freehold of 6 Oxford Court, which has been vacant since 2018. Carnarvon Street Properties owns the leasehold.

Osborne House bought the freeholds of 19 properties totalling 64,000 sq ft within Oxford Court from Oxford Court Management in 2017.

Avison Young and Canning O’Neill are the retained letting agents for Oxford Court, located close to the Midland Hotel.

A letter submitted by Canning O’Neill with the planning application for the change of use states that there has been “no serious interest” in the property in the last three years.
