Peel Land presses on with trio of Warrington Green Belt schemes

A total of 460 homes could be built on sites in Hollins Green, Lymm, and Croft.

Peel Land has this week launched public consultations on the hat-trick of projects, which are proposed on land that the developer says meets the criteria for Grey Belt.

On 26 acres in Hollins Green, Peel wants to build 200 two- to four-bed homes and deliver 10 acres of open space next to Holly Bank Caravan Park and the Manchester Ship Canal.

Ninety of the homes would be delivered as affordable.

The 6.7-acre proposed Lymm development, south of Bucklow Gardens, includes 60 new homes with 27 earmarked as affordable.

Another 200 homes are planned on 20.5 acres at Turret Hall Farm, north of Lord Street in Croft. Like the Hollins Green scheme, the Croft plans would feature 90 affordable homes.

Matthew Stafford, associate director at Peel Land said: “These three schemes directly tackle Warrington’s current housing needs by providing new homes and a higher than normal proportion of affordable housing. The plans also bring greater opportunity for first-time buyers wanting to get onto the property ladder as well as for growing families.

“The consultations are a key part of the planning process, we’re therefore keen to gain as much feedback as possible from residents on the proposed plans.”

Turley, Randell Thorp, e3p, Chroma, I-Transport, Curtins, Iceni, and Walsingham make up the project team.

The consultations on each of the schemes can be viewed below:

Yet more soulless, car-centric suburbia.

They should be transparent about the price of these so called affordable houses , especially in these affluent areas of Warrington,

Regarding Hollins Green…. What about amenities?? There isn’t enough doctors, schools, parking space now without anymore houses being built. This is an absolute joke!! Land being sold off for companies sheer greed!!

Yet another covid era online only consultation, where respondants are led towards responses and then asked to hand over personal details.

Build a model, print some boards, rent a marquee or room at a village hall and do it properly.

108 properties are being built at the moment in hollins green, why would we need more when all we have is one village shop ,2 pubs and a barbers in the church hall. St Helens school which consists of pupils from cadishead and also Irlam as well as children from the village will not have enough places.

We already have a major problem with urban sprawl and it is quite sickening to see our precious open countryside shrinking steadily. The plain truth is that human beings ( and many animals too) need to have open natural green landscapes in order to escape from the traffic pollution, stress and filth of our overpopulated towns and cities. Those housing developers who want to rape and destroy yet more countryside in the North West of England are robbing present and future generations of a beautiful heritage that their grandparents enjoyed to the full. It is all about greed and money on the part of these house building companies.

Peel won’t actually build these – they will get the planning to get it out of any green belt classification – and increase the land value -then flip it to a housebuilder such as your Barratts/Redrow, Kellan etc Its all about increasing land value! They might sell any bits no one wants to Northstone

This company is disgusting. There is zero care for biodiversity. The UK is heading for a food crisis thanks to those that play the real life sim city and don’t know where to stop.

Is there the discount for the bridge till??

By Trippyz

These three Warrington ‘grey belt’ developments should only ever go ahead after Peel fulfill their obligations to maintain all their Ship canal and River crossings, and remove their toll on neighbouring Warburton bridge. The state of the Knutsford road (a50) and Stockton Heath (a49) swing bridges is deplorable…their assets becoming dangerously corroded/ eyesores with the aim that the public purse will eventually step in to provide new crossings, and relieve them of any responsibility, despite them knowingly taking these on when purchasing the Ship canal and associated lands.

Yellow wagtails have been spotted on the area in Croft north of lord street. They are a protected species especially when nesting.
