Trafford gives green light to 124,000 sq ft adventure centre
Developer Urban Legacies has secured planning permission to extend and convert part of the 195,000 sq ft DW Sports & Fitness Centre building near the Trafford Centre into an indoor adventure centre.
The building opposite the Chill Factore is currently home to indoor and outdoor football pitches, a gym, and an indoor trampoline park, as well as more than 740 car parking spaces.
Urban Legacies’ proposals, supported by How as planner and architect Benoy, alongside transport consultant Curtins, are to convert and extend the northern part of the building into a new indoor adventure centre, provisionally named Project Canyon.
A new mezzanine level will double the building’s height from 9m to 18m to accommodate an indoor adventure centre offering caving, canoeing, surfing, ice and rock climbing, and zip wires.
A further extension to the rear of the building will create an additional 19,000 sq ft of space, while the mezzanine level will add 33,000 sq ft.
In total, the indoor adventure centre will take up 124,000 sq ft.
The professional team also include Core Five as cost consultant, Buro Happold as structural, MEP and fire engineer, and Trivandi as project manager.
Is this where Manchester giants are moving from to GC.

Total dis-regard for the high levels of Air Pollution in the area. The developer will have used the Council`s Nitrogen Dioxide receptor at Stroma Gardens which doesn`t even meet DEFRA Guidlines.
