Tim Bingham joins Curtins
Curtins Group, the national consulting engineer headquartered in Liverpool, has bought some of the assets and intellectual property of smaller local rival Bingham Davis, which went in to liquidation in early October.
As predicted on Place last week , the purchase will see former director Tim Bingham join the Curtins Group, which has 11 offices around the UK, bringing several key clients with him.
Rob Melling, chief executive of Curtins, said: "Tim has an outstanding reputation in the private developer market and will strengthen that part of our business. It's good that a Liverpool business has been able to provide the solution to this issue.
"We've held our own during the recession and this acquisition is part of our strategy of reducing exposure to public sector markets. We've got a healthy mix of projects going forward in what remains a tough market."
Gary Lee, partner at Begbies Traynor and liquidator of Bingham Davis, said: "In what is a very challenging market this is a positive outcome for the clients of Bingham Davis and the company's creditors. When liquidation is the only alternative, a deal that preserves expertise and intellectual property must be considered a success."
