Story Homes secures revised Whitehaven consent
The Cumbrian housebuilder can deliver a further 158 homes at Edgehill Park following clearance for phases six and seven of the development.
Phase six will introduce new house types to the project, Story said, through a “contemporary sub-brand created to respond to modern lifestyles and evolving housing needs”. It was this shift that necessitated the planning revision.
This housing type, described as a modern twist on a Georgian terrace, is aimed particularly at first-time buyers and downsizers. Public open space is prioritised within the development.
Philip Fell, land manager for Story Homes Cumbria & Scotland, said: “Whitehaven has been an important location for Story Homes for many years, and phase six represents an exciting step forward with the introduction of our new collection of house types.
“It’s been rewarding to see how our developments have evolved to reflect changing lifestyles while continuing to deliver high-quality, well-designed homes.”
Story Homes has been developing in Whitehaven for more than 15 years. The firm also remains busy throughout the region, particularly in Cumbria and Lancashire, where it is advancing the 1,300-home Cuerdale Garden Village.
Fell continued: “Edgehill Park is now home to hundreds of residents, and it’s fantastic to see the development continue to grow. These new house types are an exciting addition, offering homes that are practical, flexible and ideally suited to the way people want to live today.
“We’re proud to continue delivering homes in Whitehaven that meet the needs of both current and future buyers.”
