Shrimp restaurant replaces Frankie & Benny’s at Printworks
You will be able to tuck into Shrimp Shack’s “signature seafood boils” in Manchester when the brand opens up a 6,600 sq ft eatery, its first site outside London.
Shrimp Shack currently has two operational restaurants in the capital but is making moves northwards. As well as taking over the former Frankie & Benny’s within DTZ Investors’ Printworks in Manchester, the company is eyeing sites in Leeds and Liverpool, according to its website.
The Shirmp Shack offering is described as a “high-energy, accessible dining experience” and allows diners to build their own seafood boil, a shellfish dish that originates from southern and coastal USA.
Co-founder Rish Gola, said the Printworks provides an “ideal setting” for the company’s first Northern site.
“Expanding into Manchester is a major step for Shrimp Shack as we endeavor to grow beyond the capital,” he said.
“Printworks…scale and focus on experience align perfectly with our brand, and we can’t wait to introduce our take on bold, accessible seafood dining to Mancunians.”
Shrimp Shack is the latest form to commit to Printworks, which underwent a £27m refurbishment a few years ago. Since then, the focus has been on attracting experiential operators, in particular competitive socialising concepts like Boom Battle Bar, Tenpin, and Treetop Golf, which are operational, and Gameface and Crossbar, a football-based concept due to open this year.
Dan Davis, general manager at Printworks, said: “Securing Shrimp Shack’s first regional location is another strong indicator of Printworks being a perfect platform for ambitious, fast- growing brands looking to expand beyond London.
“Its distinctive offer and broad consumer appeal will further enhance our food and beverage line-up, supporting our strategy to deliver high-quality, experience-led concepts that drive repeat custom.”
