Sefton Council approves its own 69-home scheme

Included in the plans is a block of apartments, which will mark the borough’s first new council homes in 15 years.

The homes will be built on the brownfield site off Buckley Lane in Netherton. Previously, it held the Z-Block Flats apartment buildings. Those buildings were demolished in 2007.

Plans from the council’s housebuilding company, Sandway Homes, call for constructing 18 two-bedroom houses, 23 three-bedroom houses and 10 four-bedroom houses on the site. There will also be two apartment blocks consisting of nine apartments each. Those apartments will range from having one bedroom to two. Houses will be just two storeys, while the apartment blocks will be three.

There will be 11 affordable houses in the scheme, including four two-bedroom houses listed as affordable rent and seven two-bedroom houses designated as shared ownership.

Pegasus Group worked with the council to develop the plans. Modern City Architecture and Urbanism are the architects. Other consultants include Turner and Townsend, engineer Marston & Grundy LLP, Wardell Armstrong and Vectos.
