Rail contracts ‘still on track’
Construction firm Strategic Team Group, which has offices in Hooton and Stockport, said the rail sector has an 'exciting future' after reporting 13 new contracts in the past year worth a combined £5.2m.
The contracts were awarded by Arriva Trains Wales, First Great Western and Merseyrail and ranged from new railway stations to rail cycle shelters and Disability Discrimination Act work.
Among the North West stations where STG worked were Accrington, Chester, Liverpool South Parkway, Aintree, Birkenhead North, Brunswick, Wallasey Grove and Liverpool Lime Street.
Charles Tweed, Strategic Team Group's business development director, said: "Rail travel has an exciting future ahead, with major public and private sector investments planned for the future.
"We hope to continue to play a significant part in improving the rail experience for all passengers. Our track record in the sector clearly demonstrates our level of commitment and expertise, whether it be complex projects requiring exacting planning to ensure stations remain operational whilst the work is being completed, to improving access for all passengers."
STG's headquarters is in Castleford, West Yorkshire and it has a turnover of £40m.
