The fit-out of the store is due to complete in early August, and the shop is due to open is set to open in autumn 2016.
Marketgate is in the centre of Lancaster, with tenants including New Look, WHSmith, Waterstones and Caffe Nero. The new Primark will be the largest anchor store in the city.
Bank of Scotland Commercial Banking’s real estate team provided funding to Roubaix Group to help deliver the investment and improvement plans.
Chris Beckerman, managing director of Roubaix Group, said: “We are delighted to have completed construction work on the new Primark store. The opening of Primark is a key milestone in our investment and improvement plans at Marketgate. Our focus has always been on improving the centre so that it can attract and retain a vibrant mix of retailers and facilities, with big brands like the new Primark alongside independent shops.”
All this will do is steal business from the smaller local shops.

Which smaller local shops? I’ve only seen charity shops, pound shops, bakeries and estate agents. Are there other shops hidden away?
