Pochin wins HQ Chester hotel contract

Pochin Construction has been awarded a £2.4m contract to undertake the fit-out of the ABode Hotel at the recently completed HQ scheme in Chester.

Pochin was the main contractor on the building by Liberty Properties, which replaced the former Cheshire Constabulary headquarters overlooking the Roodee racecourse.

HQ Chester comprises 35 apartments, 60,000 sq ft of offices, restaurants and the four-star 85-room ABode hotel.

Jon Pochin, managing director of Pochin Construction, said: "We have been committed to this project from day one and have worked collaboratively overcoming any obstacles and delivering the scheme on time and to the client's satisfaction. We have already commenced the fit out and, when complete in February 2010, the hotel will provide a fabulous destination for the visitors of Chester."

The offices at HQ are expected to be occupied by Cheshire West & Chester Council after it entered talks to sell the nearby County Hall to Chester University.
