Plans lodged for Liverpool Waters hospital
The City Hospital is setting up a 9,000 sq ft private facility at Peel L&P’s Princes Dock.
A planning application to covert vacant office space on the ground floor of 10 Princes Dock into a hospital has been submitted to Liverpool City Council.
The City Hospital is a collaboration of established Liverpool medical practitioners senior consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon Ali Juma and Dr Arun Ghosh, chief executive of Ghosh Medical Group, based on Rodney Street .
The proposed new hospital, due to open this summer, will offer a range of treatments and procedures including plastic and reconstructive surgery, general surgery, and gastroenterology.
As well as operating theatres and consulting rooms, the hospital will feature an academy aimed at providing training in surgical and non-surgical treatments and procedures.
“The City Hospital Princes Dock is planned with the sole purpose of providing a high end multi-speciality safe medical and surgical facilities to the local community of Liverpool and the North West,” Juma said.
“The Training Academy at The City Hospital is a lifelong ambition of disseminating and sharing knowledge whilst learning from others’ experiences”.
Liza Marco, senior asset manager at Peel L&P’s Liverpool Waters, added: “It’s great to see Liverpool Waters attracting a world class medical facility.
“It’s an ideal site for The City Hospital because Princes Dock is a very accessible city centre location with excellent transport links and plenty of car parking so it’s very easy for staff and patients to get to.”
Arup is advising the applicant on planning and Good & Tillotson is the architect for the scheme.
Great news for the new year

A bit over the top to describe this as a hospital, as it will be more or less the size of a large, local medical centre, where often day surgery is performed.
