Plans in for conversion of Stockport office block
Part of Petersgate House is to be converted into apartments as a deal for the sale of the property nears.
Developer RA Project 4x has submitted a planning application to Stockport Council to convert three floors within the six-storey office block into 24 apartments.
Place North West reported in January that Proudkey Properties had agreed to sell the 21,000 sq ft Petersgate House to a Middle East investor for around £1.8m.
However, the investor walked away from the deal before it was completed, it is understood.
Now, RA Project 4x has agreed terms with Proudkey to buy the building, with the deal reportedly close to completion.
Under plans lodged by the developer, Petersgate House’s third, fourth and fifth floors would be converted into apartments. Of the 24 flats proposed, 21 would have one bedroom. Three of the apartments would have two bedrooms.
Liverpool-based Drome Architects is advising the developer on its proposals.
Petersgate House is located overlooking St Peter’s Square in an area of Stockport where several residential projects are coming forward.
Eamar Developments, the Saudi Arabian owner of Stockport’s distinctive Pyramid office building, is seeking consent for almost 100 apartments across 20 storeys.
One Heritage Group is delivering two schemes nearby, an 18-apartment scheme on St Petersgate and 30 apartments within Seaton House on Wellington Street.
