Pets Choice plots 120,000 sq ft Blackburn shed

Already based at Whitebirk Industrial Estate, the pet food company is planning to expand its operations by redeveloping a 15-acre site near its existing manufacturing centre.

Pets Choice wants to create a 120,000 sq ft warehouse at its Blackburn site and convert its existing packaging facility into a shop to sell its products.

The warehouse would feature 10,000 sq ft of offices across three floors, while the retail unit would span 10,500 sq ft.

The new-build warehouse and the existing production facility off Lower Phillips Road would be connected through the creation of a link bridge.

PWA Planning is advising Pets Choice on the proposals. Campbell Driver Partnership is leading on design.

Pets Choice “aspires to use the additional space to support the location change of the manufacturing of their products from Germany and France to the local area”, according to a planning statement by PWA.

Plans for the project, which could create around 60 new full-time jobs, have been submitted to Blackburn with Darwen Council.
