Visit Manchester names new business tourism boss

Visit Manchester, the tourist board for the city region, has appointed Steven Small as its new head of business tourism.

Small replaces Catherine Walker, who worked in the role for four years and has now joined inward investment agency Midas.

Small will head up a team of 12 and be responsible for overseeing Visit Manchester's contribution to the city's business tourism industry, worth more than £500m a year. Small previously worked at Ernst & Young LLP and the North West Development Agency.

Paul Simpson, managing director of Visit Manchester, said: "Steven's background in dealing with corporate clients to influence investment decisions, develop business plans and access public funding will be a great asset to the business tourism team. He has an in-depth knowledge of the workings of the Manchester city-region and the importance of the visitor economy."
