Tender published for construction school

Rochdale's Hopwood Hall College is seeking a contractor to design and build a new £4.5m teaching facility on its Middleton campus.

Hopwood Hall College is located on two main campuses, at Middleton and at Rochdale town centre.

The tender brief covers the relocation of the construction and engineering department from Rochdale to Middleton. The winning contractor will demolish existing buildings at Middleton and construct a new building including associated external works. A number of existing buildings have already been demolished on the proposed site of the new building. The building will be further fitted-out with furniture and equipment by direct contracts with the college.

The college wants the work completed within eight months of the award of the contract. The deadline for requests to participate is 11 June.

David Watts at Gleeds in Manchester is advising the college.
