Supermarket site up for sale

The former site of Kensington indoor market in Liverpool is being offered for sale with outline planning permission for a supermarket.

Sanderson Weatherall in Manchester and the Liverpool office of fellow agents Matthews & Goodman have been jointly instructed to sell the 2.34-acre site by Mark Swiers and Daniel Hardy, Joint Fixed Charge Receivers to AW Developments Liverpool.

In October 2010 Liverpool City Council granted outline planning permission to AW Developments Liverpool for a 50,000 sq ft supermarket with additional retail, car parking and 44 houses and 15 apartments on the site fronting the A57 Prescot Road and an adjacent site.

The adjacent site, incorporating the residential element of the planning permission, is in separate ownership and while not being offered for sale by Sanderson Weatherall and Matthews & Goodman is available via separate negotiation with its existing owners.

The land being offered for sale also offers short-term opportunities for potential uses including car parking, advertisement, car boot sales or storage subject to planning permission.

Mark Swiers, Joint Fixed Charge Receiver, commented, "This is a rare opportunity to acquire and redevelop a prime and prominent site in part of Liverpool enjoying massive regeneration."
