Story gets £65m bank backing

Carlisle-based Story Homes has secured a £65m funding package from Lloyds Bank to support its growth over the next five years, which includes plans for the opening of its first Manchester office.

Story Homes said there were “exciting plans” to boost its presence across the North West and North East before 2020, with the company aiming to open a fourth office in South Manchester. The housebuilder currently operates offices in Carlisle, Newcastle and Chorley.

Steve Errington, chief executive of Story Homes, said: “We’re extremely pleased to have received the green light on this funding and have already begun to see the benefits of having this level of financial backing. We’re now in an even better position to buy and secure the land required to achieve our expansion plans and continue to provide high quality homes for life.”

The funding has also allowed for the investment in Story Homes’ key initiatives surrounding its workforce, including apprenticeship and graduate schemes and management programmes. The firm is also introducing a number of on- and off-site technologies.
