Story begins on Eastway estate

Story Homes has started on site with the construction of 300 houses to the North of Preston, after signing a development agreement with the Homes & Communities Agency.

The D’Urton Manor scheme was approved for the 50-acre plot in Eastway in March, after contracts for the sale of the land were exchanged with the HCA.

The location already had outline planning permission which the HCA secured for a mixed-use development comprising up to 300 houses, employment land, a district centre and open space provision.

The mixed-use element of the scheme will come forward once the housing development is underway.

Story will build a mix of family homes ranging in size from two to five bedrooms. This includes 45 affordable homes.

The housebuilder currently has another site under development within the Preston area, at Cottam which is owned by HCA. The development of 283 homes known as Waterside will feature a mix of mix of two, three, four and five bedroom properties.

Fred Story, founder and chairman of Story Homes, said: “This is a significant development for Story Homes and it will deliver our second scheme in Preston with the Homes & Communities Agency and Preston City Council. D’Urton Manor will provide much needed family housing ranging in size from two to five bedroom homes.

“We believe the Story Homes offer is different to that of other developers currently active in the area and we believe our product will be something new, but will be in keeping with the Preston market.”
