Stockport’s £50m Mercedes-Benz showroom completes

Hong Kong-based developer Lei Shing Hong has completed the 350,000 sq ft car showroom in Stockport, claimed to be the largest Mercedes-Benz dealership in Europe.

The £50m development was given planning permission in October 2017 and covers a 10-acre plot alongside the M60.

Delivered by project manager K2 Consultancy alongside main contractor RG Group, the dealership has space for 150 cars indoors and a further 300 outside, and will also host a hospitality concept as well as acting for the regional sales and distribution hub for Mercedes-Benz in the North West.

LSH formerly operated out of a site on Wellington Road North and is relocating as part of the development.

Works at the £50m dealership have included remediating contaminated soils, demolition of existing buildings, and mains services diversions. Despite late design changes, the scheme was completed on programme.

The professional team on the project also included architect ATA Design; quantity surveyor Aecom; structural engineer Rolton; and M&E engineer BWB.
