Stewart Milne eyes consent in Congleton

The housebuilder wants to construct 179 homes across 35 acres north of Radnor Park Trading Estate off the recently completed £90m Congleton Link Road. 

Under plans from Ainscough Strategic Land approved in 2017, the wider 60-acre Congleton site has outline consent for 275 houses and 312,890 sq ft of commercial space, including 12,500 sq ft of leisure. 

Stewart Milne’s plans for 179 three- and four-bedroom houses is the first phase of the project to come forward and would be located next to Miller Homes’ Turnstone Grange scheme. 

Cheshire East has recommended the project be approved when its strategic planning board meets next week. 

The outline application for the project, known as Radnor Green, was drawn up by architect Broadway Malyan, Aeon Archeology, BWB, Croft Transport Solutions and Tyler Grange as environmental consultant. 

Stewart Milne’s in-house planning and design teams have drawn up the detailed plans for phase one.

No more houses build in Congleton until we have all the amenities to support the populus, ie. Doctors, healthcare centre, schools, etc. etc… put people before profit !!!

Why is brownfield land not being used? Why are these large detached houses being built on green fields, very sad

I’m certainly not against houses being built. But I’ve definitely noticed over the last few yrs, since all the new houses have been built a build up of Traffic going through the town centre. As the new link road was build to help take traffic away from the town and help us to have cleaner air, having all these houses built is only going to increase air pollution even further. Thats not to mention the overload on some of the facilities in the town.i.e GP surgeries Especially.

This scheme alone is providing the Local Authority with over £3m of S106 Contributions – exactly for improvements to education, highways etc.

No, enough is enough. Having allowed unscrupulous land owners and property developers free reign to get ever richer it’s about time there was proper investment in the town centre and the infrastructure to support the ridiculous and uncontrolled increase in population. Stop encouraging development of more leisure and retail facilities out of the town centre and get it regenerated as is advertised on the patronising big posh banners which have been on display for some 10 years now. Also start by reinstating a waste disposal facility again and a proper main post office, and whilst they’re at it finish off the half cooked bypass so that it joins up to the A34 on the South of town and actually eases the peak time traffic congestion thru’ the centre of town like it was supposed to do.

Congleton excessive development drove me to move out of town. Its just not the lovely little town it used to be. Shame on Cheshire East, it’s been ruined

There are many brownfield sites through North Staffordshire and Cheshire that could be used instead of using fields.

Apart from this …..

Where will all the new children go to school ?

Which already over subscribed doctors surgery will take them as patients ?

Will more leisure facilities be provided ?

Will the current sewage facilities be expanded ?

Will the the electrical infrastructure be improved or will we look forward to even more impromptu power cuts ?

Will there be a household refuse facility provided (much like the one thats just been closed to make room for yet another Costa Coffee shop) ?

Well said Evo
If they need to build more houses , how about building more affordable homes, so local youngsters have a chance of buying. I suppose there’s not enough money to be made out of this though
