Sign-off for resi first phase on hospital site

Taylor Wimpey has received detailed planning consent for a 150 home development on the site of the former Whittingham Hospital site in Preston.

The scheme represents the first phase of construction on land in the north of the site, known as Cameron North.

Outline planning permission was granted earlier in the year for the total development, which includes 650 homes, 9,000 sq ft of commercial space and community facilities.

The scheme brought forward by Taylor Wimpey is for a mix of two-bed, three-bed and four-bed properties including apartments, detached, semi-detached and mews housing, 17 of which will be affordable units.

Taylor Wimpey was selected as preferred developer in 2007 and received consent for 650 homes in 2011. Taylor Wimpey will deliver the first 150 homes but the Homes & Communities Agency said in February that it would seek other developers for the remaining 500 units.

How Planning advised Taylor Wimpey. The planning consultancy has also submitted a planning application on behalf of the developer for an 89-home development at Flat Lane in Kelsall which is currently being considered by Cheshire West & Chester Council.
