Sharp Street plot earmarked for Hilton hotel

A planning application has been submitted for a 221-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel, on a derelict site at the edge of the NOMA neighbourhood in Manchester.

Located on Sharp Street and Rochdale Road, the hotel is being developed by Blackpool-based Create, and was designed by Tim Groom Architects.

The building is part nine- and part seven-storeys, in a L-shaped block with a glazed link between the two brick blocks.

Hampton by Hilton is the hotel operator’s budget brand.

The plot near to the Co-operative Group and Hermes’s 20-acre NOMA development has been vacant for a number of years and has been the subject of a series of planning applications that have not been brought forward. These included the approval in 2007 of a 28-storey glass tower, made up of 367 serviced apartments.
