Regal buys Runcorn factory

A 180,000 sq ft Runcorn factory building belonging to zip manufacturer YKK has been sold for around £3m to private investor Regal Estates.

Regal will spend a further £2m refurbishing the manufacturing and distribution facility at Whitehouse Vale Industrial Estate.

YKK will continue to occupy around 200,000 sq ft at Whitehouse Vale for production and distribution.

Manchester niche industrial practice Davies Harrison advised YKK and has been retained by Regal to let the new scheme.

The authority has approved PGA pro Rob Ashbrook’s plans for an 18-acre site off Bradeley Green Lane, next to the A49 in the village of Wirswall.

The authority is looking to map out where development should take place across the borough beyond when its current blueprint expires in 2030.
